Seven Gardening Tips
Not everybody loves gardening and not everybody has the privilege to grow various types of plants for a number of reasons. There are those individuals who would want to start a garden but don't have enough space while there are also those who have all the space but prefer not to turn them into a garden.
Of course, when you have a garden, it is your responsibility to keep it lush and alive. Gardening doesn't end after you plant the trees, flowers and shrubs. In fact, gardening is a year round activity.
For the avid gardener a lush garden is a sight to behold. Here are some gardening tips to keep your garden beautiful.
1. Preparing the soil properly is the first step to a lush and fruitful garden. Soil preparation is an important step. It doesn't matter what type of garden you are planning to have, the process in preparing the soil is still the same.
2. If you use fertilizers, make sure that you follow instructions. Each type of fertilizer has a specific instruction or procedure to follow. Failing to do this might result to your plants having too much or too little fertilizer.
3. Organize your potted plants. Not all plants in the garden are planted in the soil; some are placed in pots. Randomly placing your potted plants in the garden might result to a disorganized looking garden.
Keep in mind that gardening is more than just planting; it is also a form of art. It will be painful too look at if your plants are grouped or planted randomly. People would often appreciate gardens that are more organized.
4. When planting shrubs and trees, space them properly. We all know that trees can grow big so enough space should be provided between them or else your trees will end up competing for water, nutrients and of course space resulting to stunted or poor growth.
Shrubs, on the other hand, grow sideways that is why enough space should also be provided to allow your shrubs to expand.
5. Do weeding on a regular basis. There are times when no matter how carefully you prepare that plot of land for your garden, weeds will eventually grow. These weeds are not your plants' friends; in fact, they rob your plants of the nutrients that they need.
If left alone weeds can compete with your plants. So it is important that you remove these weeds from your garden on a regular basis. When weeding, make sure that you take out everything including the roots.
6. Remember that your plants need water so do not forget this very important task. Watering is ideally done early in the morning and late in the afternoon where the sun is no longer up. Watering when the sun is at its peak will prove useless because the water will only evaporate faster than your plant roots can absorb them.
7. If you have trees and shrubs it is also advisable that you prune them on a regular basis. Pruning allows you to remove diseased as well as dead branches. Other than that, it also allows you to shape your trees and shrubs to make it look more attractive.
