Three Ways To Keep Your Indoor Plants Healthy

Potted plants are simple objects of life and simplicity. They break the monotony of concrete and steel in homes everywhere. Not only that, they produce life giving oxygen in otherwise cramped homes. They take away the carbon dioxide in the air and thus remove harmful toxins.

The colors that these plants exude ranging from bright green hues, earth colors to bright shades through its flowers are relaxing to the eyes and pleasing to the senses. But to keep them as gems in the house, here are simple tips to keep the plants in your home healthy.

1) Water them everyday.

Water is the main food of the plant so it is important that one waters their plants once a day. Also, do remember that plants are living beings and thus over feeding them, or in this case over watering plants, would not help them grow properly. The best tool for watering is using a water spray so that water would be evenly strewn across the plant. This avoids flooding the pot with water and being in mist form, the water can be easily absorbed by the plant. And please, do use clean water so that the plant can easily extract the nutrients needed for its upkeep.

2) Put them in an area where these can get adequate sunlight.

Potted plants require sunlight in order to process the nutrients in their leaves. Thus it is important that adequate sunlight would be accessible to the plant for their chlorophyll needs. But as all things when overdone, too much sun would prove to be unhealthy to the plant.

So it is important that the sun's rays reach the plant. Too little sun on the other hand would force the plant to reach out to where the sun shines. Many plants have that capacity to grow towards the sunlight. So to keep the plant healthy, make the sun accessible to it.

3) Learn to rotate plants.

Plants are usually placed beside walls or in corners. So for long periods of time, plant leaves are hidden away. When left in this manner, the leaves beside the wall wither and die, thus leaving the plant with an uneven growth of leaves. Not only is it not pleasing to the eye, but the plant itself is considered unhealthy and prone to disease. To avoid this, the plant must be rotated so that the leaves are allowed to breath. This allows the leaves kept hidden away to absorb the necessary sun and nutrients from the air and make the plant healthy over all.

These simple actions would help in keeping indoor plants healthy. Watering them every day using a water sprayer, allowing them adequate sunlight for their chemical processes and rotating them would be surefire ways in keeping a plant robust. The plant not only removes excess carbon dioxide in the air but also produces oxygen for all in the house to use. A healthy plant life in your home would not only be aesthetically pleasing but a healthy addition to the wellness in your home as well.
