Five Basic Tools You Need For Your Garden
You may have a garden that's just full of grass or one that is full of all sorts of flora. But one thing is sure: you do need some basic tools to maintain any kind of garden day in and day out to keep it alive and well.
There are all sorts of expensive tools that you can invest in but you might not use them at all. So what's the use of buying them in the first place? The best thing to do if you are not a professional gardener is to invest in items that your garden will need daily or from time to time. Here are some garden tools that you can buy and be sure to use.
• A shovel – As a beginning gardener or just one who can't be too bothered to do super meticulous gardening, all you really need is a shovel. You can use a shovel to dig up weeds and also shape your garden the way that you want. There are big and small shovels so make sure you get one that you can handle well. Shovels can also be used to transplant flowers but you will need to be quite skilled to do that and it takes practice. But it's great to know that the tool can be used for things other than just digging and weeding.
• Shears – Do you have hedges and bushes around your garden? You may notice how they become very large and unruly. This means that you have to trim them down to a size and shape that is nice to look at and easy to handle. A pair of shears will do the trick. Much like big scissors, shears can be used to cut hedges and bushes down to size. They can also be used to trim very small branches off trees that you might think will become an obstacle in the future. Shape up your garden on a weekly or monthly basis with this useful tool.
• An aerator – When you are planning to take the next step which is planting new kinds of plants in your garden, you will first need to prepare the soil. This can be done with an aerator. This tool will allow you to dig up your soil and mix it with fertilizer if necessary. Doing this will allow air and water to move freely in the soil and therefore it will make the soil healthy and make your new plants grow fast and strong.
• A hose – Of course, every garden needs a water hose. Every plant and even the grass need to be watered constantly to give your garden good health. Make sure that you have a very long hose that can reach all parts of the garden to make water accessible to all the plants and flowers.
• A lawn mower – Your garden will be made up mostly of grass and grass grows really fast. For this, you will need even the most basic of lawn mowers to keep your grass short and neat looking. Invest in one of these and you will most likely use it at least once a week if you are the type who is particular enough to keep grass cut down to an acceptable size.
