For the home gardener or for any gardener for that matter, tools are an essential and indispensable part of gardening. No matter if a person is blessed with green hands, he cannot possibly accomplish all his gardening goals with just his limbs to help him. Among the numerous gardening tools that you might find in the gardening shop, here are the top four tools that the average gardener should not be without.

1. Gloves. Gardening means you have to get on all fours and get your hands dirty. Literally, that is. There is a way however to keep your hands from getting soiled, from getting coarse and rough and from getting slashed, cut and severed from all that gardening. All you need is a good pair of gardening gloves. Choose a pair of gloves that offer you protection while giving your hands enough space to move freely and comfortably.

2. Spade. Before you can start your garden, you need to find a place for it, perhaps your front or your back yard. These areas are not always garden ready and so you need to spruce them up first. The spade is one tool that can help you in turning over and scooping the soil, digging and removing earth and removing unwanted rocks. When you are ready to start planting, you would also need a dependable and sturdy spade to do some digging for your plant's new home. Keep the spade safely in your shed. Too much exposure to rain and sun can cause it to become rusty and corroded.

3. Hose. Just like you, your garden more particularly your flowering and fruit-bearing plants need water everyday. With the issue of global warming amongst us, gardeners cannot but wait for the rain for their plants to get a shower. And because lugging around a water-filled pail from the nearest faucet to the garden can be exhausting and time consuming, the solution invented is the hose. It is the hose that conveniently carries the water from the source to your thirsty and yearning plants. A lot of people take the hose for granted and often leave it lying in the ground after use. This will not only cause your hose to depreciate more rapidly, it can also cause unfortunate stumbles and accidents.

4. Lawn mower. A lot of people may seek greener pastures but most gardeners prefer their grass in their lawn to grow only to a minimum height. The green, green grass of home need not grow as tall. And cutting off all that grass could take much of a gardener's time. One a good lawn mower is one of a gardener's or any lawn owner's most prized tool.
